Continuing Education

For Applicants

Individuals applying to become certified as a National Certified Guardian (NCG) must submit proof of guardian-related CEUs, based on the following criteria:

  1. high school graduate or GED equivalent: 30 hours of CGC approved coursework within two years prior to applying for certification;
  2. licensure in guardianship or certification in a field related to guardianship (for example, CFP, CPA, CMC, CCM): 20 hours of CGC approved coursework within two years prior to applying for certification;
  3. two-year degree in a field related to guardianship (for example, social work, criminal justice, accounting, nursing): 10 hours of CGC approved coursework within two years prior to applying for certification;
  4. four-year or higher degree in a field related to guardianship (for example, law, medical, social work, psychology, finance, business): 10 hours of CGC approved coursework within two years prior to applying for certification.

For Certificants

Those individuals certified through CGC must provide proof of continuing education in the form of CEUs for the preceding two (2) years for National Certified Guardians or preceding three (3) years for National Master Guardians. To do so, certificants must login to their CGC account, select “CEU information” from their dashboard and input the information requested for the educational sessions provided.

For Educational Providers

CGC provides the opportunity for educational providers to promote their events to CGC certificants as well as apply for CGC pre-approval of CEUs for those events. Please review the procedures and policy related to pre-approval by reviewing this document:
