The Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC) recognizes additional flexibility may be needed during these uncertain times. As such, we are willing to work with you to ensure you are able to renew your certification with CGC or complete the application process as smoothly as possible. If you have questions or encounter a problem, please be sure to contact us.
Due to safety precautions and travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, many upcoming continuing education events will likely be canceled or postponed. Whether you are currently certified with CGC; or completing the education courses required to qualify for the certification exam, the educational events you were planning to attend in-person may no longer be offered.
For both current certificants and new applicants, all of your required education credits can be obtained from online courses or recorded webinars. Educational providers who have submitted their course information to CGC will be listed in the Approved Course list on the CGC website. Please keep in mind you are not limited to only the courses posted on the CGC website. You are welcome to use any education course that relates to at least one of CGC’s Core Competencies.
If your deadline to renew your certification approaches, and you do not have the necessary credits, CGC offers everyone a 45-day grace period to complete the recertification process. If educational events you were planning to attend are canceled and you need more than an additional 45 days to earn the required credits, please email Angie Troutman, Certification Associate, at certification@guardianshipcert.org.
Applicants planning to take the certification exam in the near future may encounter scheduling delays due to temporary closures or reduced business hours at testing centers. Please know CGC will extend your exam deadline to provide adequate time for testing. If you’re currently scheduled to take an exam, please check PSI’s website for updated closure information.
